The earliest device used to squirt fires was a fire syringe. It is believed that the first pumper was invented in the second century B.C. by Ctesibius of Alexandria. Many years since then, pumpers had not seen many improvements. The first self-propelled steam pumper was invented in New York in 1841. Since then, fire truck production has exponentially grown and developed a lot.
The first fire engine manufacturers
After the invention of the steam engine, the production of fire trucks has developed at a rapid pace. In 1737, Benjamin Franklin put the basis of an organized fire truck producer. Later, Thomas Lote built the first fire engine made in America in 1743. These earliest pumpers were called hand tubs because they were manually (hand) powered and the water was supplied by a bucket brigade, which dumped it into a cistern where the pump had a permanent intake pipe. In 1822, we notice an important advancement of an engine that could draft water from a water source. The same system is used today by all fire truck manufacturers for suction hoses, improved and designed according to motorized fire engines.
Innovative solutions for fire engines
Steam pumper came in to use in the 1850s. For many years firefighters sat on the sides of the fire engines, running long the pumper. Motorized fire engines did not become commonplace until the early 20th century when manufacturers have started including seats for the firefighting crew on the body vehicle. Volkan Fire is an experienced fire truck producer Turkey, which is keeping pace with the latest developments and innovations.
